Description

The SUR-RON Light Bee 2 is the next generation of SUR-RON's lightweight electric off-road motorcycle platform. With 24kW of peak power and a 65kg curb weight, it combines a substantial increase in performance with the lightweight handling that defines the Light Bee family.

The Light Bee 2 introduces SUR-RON's new EVO-2 powertrain and Bee Matrix powertrain architecture, together with a 3.53kWh semi-solid-state battery, SRTC off-road traction control and new electronic riding functions.

24kW Performance in a 65kg Package

The Light Bee 2 delivers up to 24kW of peak power from a remarkably lightweight 65kg platform.

SUR-RON quotes 0-50km/h in 1.8 seconds and 0-80km/h in 3.43 seconds, with a claimed maximum speed of 90km/h.

The combination of high peak power and low weight is central to the Light Bee 2's design, giving riders a responsive electric motorcycle for demanding off-road riding. 

EVO-2 Powertrain & Bee Matrix

The Light Bee 2 is built around SUR-RON's new EVO-2 powertrain and Bee Matrix architecture.

The system combines the motor and electronic control hardware with multiple riding modes and electronic assistance functions, including traction control, regenerative braking and SUR-RON Wheelie Control.

This is a new powertrain platform rather than simply a higher-output version of the original Light Bee. 

3.53kWh Semi-Solid-State Battery

The Light Bee 2 uses a 78.54V / 45Ah semi-solid-state battery with 3.53kWh of capacity.

SUR-RON specifies a battery pack energy density of 237Wh/kg, with cells reaching up to 320Wh/kg. The battery is removable and designed for quick swapping, while an IP67 rating provides protection against dust and water ingress.

SUR-RON quotes:

  • Up to 108km at 40km/h
  • Up to 160km at 25km/h

These are manufacturer test figures. Actual range will vary depending on rider weight, terrain, temperature, speed, riding mode and other conditions. 

Lightweight Chassis

At 65kg, the Light Bee 2 remains focused on lightweight handling despite its significant increase in power.

SUR-RON uses an integrated forged aluminium frame, with the manufacturer stating that frame strength has increased by 50% compared with the original Light Bee, while swingarm torsional rigidity has doubled. 

Smart Riding & Connectivity

The Light Bee 2 adds a range of electronic controls designed around different riding conditions.

Features include SRTC traction control, multiple power modes, regenerative braking, cruise control, SUR-RON Wheelie Control and smartphone app connectivity with GPS. 

Built for Off-Road Riding

The Light Bee 2 is designed as a lightweight, high-performance electric off-road motorcycle for trails, tracks and other permitted off-road environments.

Its combination of 24kW peak power, 65kg weight, advanced electronic controls and long-travel suspension gives it a very different performance proposition from the lower-powered Light Bee X.
